Scientific demonstration days for the Faculty of Pharmacy
On March 12th, the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Damascus, began days of scientific demonstrations from the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology. Professors and researchers participated from the Assembly of Endocrinology and Diabetes in Syria as well the Center for Genetic and Neurological Disease in Cyprus.Dr. Wael Mualla, President of Damascus University, pointed to the importance of these demonstrations in shining light on the primary interest of the college in the diagnosis of certain diseases as well as prevention programs and treatment methods. He continued by saying the Faculty of Pharmacy has played in important role in educating young medical staff and contributing to scientific research and development in the Syria health sector. The college has worked in the preparation and qualification of pharmacists working in the pharmaceutical industry, which has become one of the most important national industries.Dr. Abdo Ataya, head of the biochemistry and microbiology department, said this event includes a presentation and discussion of much of the important scientific research being undertaken now at the college. This event will provide researchers an opportunity to introduce and exchange ideas amongst one another, which is part of a larger effort to strengthen the means of communication, monitoring, and implementation of programs, as well as holding scientific seminars and conferences. And these demonstrations included a presentation and discussion by researchers from Syria and Cyprus on topics related to diabetes, treatment of high blood pressure, modern methods in prenatal diagnosis of hepatitis B, as well as other scientific and medical topics.
