Graduates of the Invention and Development Courses at DU and the University of Aleppo swept the largest cache of medals for their inventions during their participation in the Third International Exhibition for New Inventions held in Kuwait Nov. 17-19. Participating in the exhibit were 165 inventions from 33 countries.

he seven Syrian contributions included medical inventions, and an invention to facilitate learning Arabic. Engineering Dr. Suha Ashtar of Aleppo University, graduate of the 2005 ID course, was awarded the top inventor honor for 2010. The International Organization for Intellectual Property gave Dr. Ashtar the award for inventing a new method of learning Arabic, useful for young learners and speakers of other languages.
Dr. Ri’an Zu’bi of Damascus University, graduate of the 2010 course, was awarded two gold medals for two inventions in the field of Dentistry: Magnetic Safety Ring and Dual-headed Turbine Handle.
